Holmegaard Glass Suncatcher ?
« on: September 27, 2011, 05:56:50 PM »

Hi

I picked up this green glass suncatcher the other day -

I thought it might be a Holmegaard one ? But I am now not so sure after looking around the net

it measures 3 3/4" in diameter

Can anyone shed any light on who produced this ?

Thanks

Rob

Definitely not Holmegaard... but can't really help beyond that. Sorry.

I know, which makes it all the harder to work out where these bits come from. They are not difficult to make I suppose, at least once you have made a suitable stamp or mould. A blob of hot glass dropped onto the marver then squish with your stamp, poke a little hole in it for hanging and apart from cooling it down that's it. :D

Hoglund's designs are usually fairly distinctive - it's that naive or primitive style. This is one of his, easy to tell in this case as it is a well known design: https://picasaweb.google.com/Johnmj100/ErikHoglund#5610693437205310002
It's about 3 inches tall, I bought it at the last National Glass Fair and I have been kicking myself ever since for not buying the other one the seller had too. Long gone now I expect.
