Miloslav Janku Birds & Hedgehog - looking for information
mcagogo:
Hello,
I am looking for information to confirm these are authentic M. Janku pieces.
I have two birds (?) slightly different sizes (see the pic with the yogurt container) and a hedgehog. All of them are signed on the bottom, but I can't find any references online.
Even if they are not authentic, I love them and have new found love and interest in collecting M. Janku's glass work.

Welcome to the board :).
The hedgehog appears in the 1970/11 Czechoslovak Glasrevue which you can view on Jindrich Parik's wonderful Czech Glass website: http://www.cs-sklo.cz/ . Here is a link to the glasrevue page: Janku hedgehog.
Similar birds can be found in the 1984/5 CGR, here.
That's the only information I can provide, but be patient. We've got people on the board who are very knowledgable about glass animals, as well as, people who are very knowledgable about Czech glass.

Hi mcagogo :hi: the signatures certainly look authentic, I have two M. Janku foxes, one of which is signed and labelled. I mention the signed one here:

and the unsigned one here:

I also have a hedgehog that looks very like yours but is unsigned and has a Bleikristall label, here is the link, you will need to scroll down the page:

Will you be in competition with me then?? I want them all!!
mcagogo:
Thank you everyone for the information and links!! I forgot to mention that one bird has a label "CESKA" and this is also etched on the bottom.
This is very exciting - now looking to add to the collection!
Max:
mcagogo, I would really appreciate it if you could upload your photographs to the Glass Message Board using *Attach*. The problem with Tinypics is those links won't work for long and we'll be left with no photographs! This means that in the future no-one else will be able to benefit from the information here.
Your items are particularly nice and it would be a great shame to lose them. :)
