Am new to Murano -  Did I get it right ??

17 cm tall or 6 3/4 inches
Red centre cased in turquoise

has wear to base. no labels or signatures

Any idea of date or maker?. Or are these just generic tourist ware?

Also - if anyone can advise - and I know costs are always subjective - but as a newbie could you give a general idea of how much one would expect to pay for one of these?

Being new to Murano (and instantly addicted)  I'm probably going to pay way over the odds unless I can get some guidance.

I've already bought a second duck online from NZ Trade Me - but I did research it (well Googled images anyway ) and found a photo of an identical one with a label - in a Carters guide identified as Murano) (trouble is pic was so small I cannot identify which label from the Murano labels 101 guide.)
Will post a photo of that duck too when it arrives.

You can register on the Miller's Guide online thingy, and then you can see what the estimates are - with the usual reservations, obviously - it's only a guide.

Did a search for swan too, estimates seem quite variable. I've got a couple of these sorts of things, and watched a few on ebay - which didn't sell, the start price was not high either.

No, thanks Sue,  nothing similar on Millers to this one, nor did I find one like it in google images. I didn't pay a lot - in fact I thought it was very cheap, it was just advertised as a red and blue duck  - but have never really looked at Murano glass before so have absolutely no idea of values.
experience will come - eventually!

No, I didn't think so, m - yours is an unsual set of colours, and it has a nice curve to the neck, although otherwise fairly generic.
It's also on a base. These are the sorts of things I'd expect to affect price.
I've never seen one in these colours, although I've seen loads of them in the green and ambery golds, or in blue and pink.

It is a very nice duck, but I don't know by who. The colors are ones that were used a lot for the company that made glass for Jordan Import Co. in the US. I don't think this is one of their designs, though. It looks well made. No clue about the real cost. I would probably ask $50US in the store.

Am pleased with my buy - looks as if it is the real thing. - and have learned a bit more in the process. Sounds as if ducks with feet are worth more than those on bases?

I also liked the curve to the neck - and the way his head is held slightly to one side - looks like a real duck!

Thanks for the price guide Anita, I paid a little less than that so looks as if it was about right for an auction price.

JAK, people always have to take my values with a grain of doubt. I usually base prices on what I think most people looking for something would be willing to pay at a certain time. Book values are usually much higher. Values are a very difficult subject because people who sell collectibles know there is a whole range of possible prices from "priced to sell" to "priced to sit on the shelf forever." Because of this, values I give tend to be low and are really just my opinion.

Now, if we can only figure out who made the duck.
