Donkey. Is it Murano? and is it Cenedese?
« on: October 07, 2011, 12:00:48 PM »
Hi

I just received this rather cute fellow.
He was sold to me as Murano - Cenedese.

any opinions on whether this is so would be appreciated.

He stands 5 inches or 13 cm tall at his back,  8 1/2 inches or 21 cm nose to tail.
he is amber coated with what look slightly green tinged glass and he glows! bright green of course, under black light. My first piece of Uranium glass I think .
No marks or labels at all.
 ;D

jakgene, this is one of the donkeys it is hard to know where it came from. Cenedese donkeys and horses have fat legs and I've never seen this shade of amber. The mane on yours is nicely made, so it is attractive. It may be Murano, but I doubt it is Cenedese. There are a pictures of a couple of his donkeys and a horse in the zoo you can see for comparison. Sorry.

Thanks Anita - I bought him because I liked him - he makes me smile  , so it doesn't matter too much if he is Cenedese or not - I do hope it is at least Murano though.

I'd be disappointed if it was modern Chinese, but thought being uranium glass that was unlikely.

I've got a lot to learn  ;D

Have decided to retire from work in the next few months, so will have to start being very selective !

I need to learn more!
regards
