I am on the case Alan, and have asked the French Forum for help... I never give up... ask any of the members here... so onwards and upwards!  ;D

Hello
Sorry for my late reply
Here are some more pictures that might help
A little bit about the glass it measures 2 9/16" or 65 mm for the younger folk diameter and 13/16", 20 mm wide
the texture at the top and bottom is grainy
as to it's purpose I have no idea
please ask if you need more information
regards Alan

It is a similar design to a vase on this link (about 10 down, green and dark brown/black cameo vase) that I think must have been id'd as Delatte - Andre Delatte, as it's on a link all about his glass.

and another with some design similarities here

The rim is very curious on the bowl.

I'm just wondering if it is possibly a made up name and a copy of an Andre Delatte pattern.  The rim of the bowl is odd. Your photos are difficult to see well.  But I've only seen that kind of ground rim on a cameo piece once before and that was on an ashtray I had that I always thought was tip galle i.e. a Romanian cameo glass piece.
However... I know nearly nothing about cameo glass.  And it's quite possible that the ground rim on your piece is seen on genuine period pieces, it's just I havent' seen anything that wasn't fire polished or cut and polished/finished with a bevelled edge.

Hello
Galle tip is a copy of the genuine article
but who would copy a name on a piece no one can identify?
intriguing isn't it
I have looked at all 32 pages of L Chompret and all I have discovered is something to do with dentistry and genes and someone of that name that has sold a collection of porcelain
regards Alan
