French Dove Dish with Acid Etched Mystery Mark
« on: September 29, 2011, 01:27:15 AM »
I'm trying to identify a heavy glass or crystal dove dish I found a few weeks ago. The bird dish measures approximately 10" from beak to tail, 7-1/2" across at widest from wing tip to wing tip and is right at 3" at the tallest point. The back of the dove forms an oval shaped bowl. Here are 2 pictures of the bird dish:

The bird dish has an acid etched mark on the base consisting of a circle around a cocktail glass which appears to have two C's inside the bowl over the word FRANCE. Here is a picture of the mark:

Any help with figuring out the maker would truly be appreciated.

Sincerely, Blake

I wondered if the CC might stand for (Cristallerie) Christofle - the high end French maker?  Can't confirm but perhaps it might be a start.

Sorry no Christofle  but seeing that the item is from the Vannes/ Sevres/ Cristalleries de Champagne stables it might be a mark from CFC, the mother company.

Dear Ivo & Ross,
Thank you both for your replies. Ivo, can you recommend a website or websites where I can find more information about the Vannes/ Sevres/ Cristalleries de Champagne triad, their marks and/or possibly a gallery showing lines with pieces similar to this Dove Dish?
I'm bouncing all over the web and not finding anything worth calling a decent lead.

Thanks again for your help.

Sincerely, Blake

Hello blake77,  first of all, welcome to The Glass Mesage board. I see you are in USA.
Nice to see such clear pictures and a good sized photo of the acid etched mark.

I have spent quite a time looking through Google since you posted this thread, as I am sure you have, and so far,  like you, am stumped! Most are in French and won't respond to Translation requests

I have tried the Glassmark Lexicon,  but even with my albeit limited knowledge of French, I am unable to find this mark.

Perhaps Ivo will find a little time to come back with a helpful link so that we can continue more productively with the search??
Rosie.
