I suspect it's not really done too much any more - it was an accident in the first place, but possibly deliberately engineered afterwards for the effect as it is so attractive - but it's a very dangerous thing to be doing - the gases are highly toxic.

I can't help wondering if this isn't what triggered Michael Harris' emphysema - which killed him.

Later pieces don't seem to have this iridescent feature

i have noticed as well it does not seem to be cased in as much clear glass as the other pieces .
there is always someone worse off .

it says in millers 2009 book that only 10 crizzle stones are known to collectors and michael harris made them all. so think someone got a real bargain. not trying to make it sound worse sue
