Topic: STS Abel Yugoslavia candlestick?

This pair of candlesticks I have bear a strong resemblance to the STS Abel 'Pigeon Bowl' that has been discussed on the Board (the thread began with a blue bowl acquisition but sorry, no good at links yet). Pamela assured us that when that name is used, everyone knows to what is being referred. I'm fairly sure they're not an identical match but are they connected, e.g., by maker or in any other way? Any help would be appreciated.    T.I.A       
 (I'll look for the thread and include a pic for interest if they are from the same stable).

Yes Christine, that's the thread.        I'll add the pic now.   I also meant that Pamela says that in GERMANY it's known as a pigeon bowl. The items are very like, it's true but the breast and wing feathers aren't exactly the same. Nor would they have to be, I suppose. After all, they're produced from different moulds. Strangely (it seems to me) there's a good bit of difference in the sizes; height of 1 is 13cms and of the other 14.25cms. This may be something that is very usual in pairs of pressed glass candlesticks for ought I know! Very interested to hear if anyone knows anything more.

That is a lot of difference for pressed glass: a couple of mm is OK and a bit of wonkiness is OK. It might mean different moulds and different production dates. Perhaps one was replaced in the days when you didn't have to buy everything as a set.

It's hard to say Christine - I did wonder whether it was a common occurrence because I haven't handled enough sticks to know. It's a shame because they're pretty and the size difference spoils them a lot. Please, if anyone has a firm attribution?     :help:
