Czech glass 1945 - 1980. Design in an age of adversity
« on: February 28, 2006, 03:42:25 PM »
Just back from a freezing morning at the Ardingly International Antique fair - not much glass for me, but did manage to pick up  "Czech glass 1945 - 1980. Design in an age of adversity" for £25.

Having skimmed it, it looks good - there are 2 CD's included:

The first is the entire book in German.

The second is a searchable database of 20th Century Czech Glass Design Drawings at the Corning museum of glass.

It appears that the design drawings are also available on the Corning website, as are a number of the pictures of the glass in the book, so if you're thinking of buying the book (or just like Czech glass), this is worth a look.

Hi, Good buy at £25. Worth the money, but, note, 60% of the glass featured is one off, museum or extremely rich collectors stuff (see my review elsewhere on GMB).
regards,
Marcus

Marcus,

apologies, and a very complete review it is.

for some reason when I searched on "Czech glass" <searched for all terms> I got zero hits, so didn't spot it.

Taylog1,
Hi, absolutely no apology necessary. I'm very pleased someone else has found it, and at a bargain price.
regards,
Marcus
