Picked up a rather nice green flashed or overlay vase in a fairly large size 10" tall 8" rim 43/4" base nice floral decorations over much of it the green overlay graduates in colour darker towards the base i have compared the workmanship to a piece of VSL joseph simon in my collection neither the weight or quality although i know little of VSL maybe they changed there techniques over the years! im kinda sitting on the fence thinking it might be british the lady i purchased it from said it was victorian certainly has a good amount of wear as per photographs? Just hoping someone may know the decoration thanks for looking at it. :smg:

Interesting information guy's thankyou, I would only say i do feel the vase has some good age to it the base is very worn and very random in its direction ofcourse im sure there are people skilled in the art of faking this! I just got a gut feeling its a little older than newly made..

Hajdamach buried under a pile of other reference books, but I bet S&W, certainly not Czech IMHO  :)

The vase in the book mentioned is the same size, same shape, has a star cut base and has similar cutting around the outer edge of the rim. Pity the colour and the main cut design is different, otherwise it could have been a 100% match. :)

The purple vase in the book has similar flowers but with five petals and the centre is polished. The ones in the book appear to have more rays (30) in the star than this one (24), though not easy to count. S&W generally are close to VSL in quality and the 3 shown in the book certainly have more flow than the above. Shape is common but similarity in size to the example in the book supports that attribution. Needs a colour match and images of Ajka products... http://ajka-crystal.hu/en/aboutus

Frank how do you know this one has 24 rays on the star?
Can I add a link in to a vase I posted previously please? no star cut base but the design and the way the branches wind reminds me also of the two large vases on pag144 and mine has the same cutting around the top edge it seems.
Mine also has some unpolished and some polished cutting.

Careful counting of a blow up of pic 1. Not 100% but it certainly seems less than the SW.
