Michael Harris purple/white swirl vase???
« on: October 16, 2011, 10:38:03 PM »
Im sure the pictures are gonna get some shrugs from people im only going from memory as i cant find my books at the moment but as i remember it there is a similar vase in a millers 50s and 60s glass book by mr nigel benson towards the back of it i think it said that it was an early MH vase known mainly in the purple/white but was done in others as i cant find my book im hoping someone may be able to say or if im super lucky mr nigel benson might happen accross this listing!!
My vase is cased in clear and 9" tall polished pontil to base i realise how vague this sounds but there is a similar one in that book towards the back??Thanks for looking :smg:

Thick glass and heavy? The pontil mark looks ground and not polished.

Nothing to do with Michael Harris, it looks far more like contemporary production, possibly from China.

I've searched through Nigel's book for you but there's nothing like it there from Harris, there is however (on page 13 for anyone who has the book and wants to check it) a smaller vase in a similar colour-way by Stennett-Willson for Wedgwood. Is it that one you were thinking of perhaps? It doesn't look very like yours but I can see why you maybe thinking of it.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd
