Touchard
« on: October 17, 2011, 11:56:41 PM »
This small glass dish is 3-1/2 inches (9 cm) in diameter.  It is signed "Touchard".  Does anyone recognize that signature?

Thank you for your reply.  I printed this information for future reference.  I cannot find Touchard mentioned in any of my books.  The vase in this auction was dated circa 1900 (1895-1905).  Had I guessed, I would not have placed the date of my dish that old.  The shop I bought it from specialized in Art Deco.

I have one of these posted on another thread.
I've also just seen this one for sale - a strange depiction, I wondered if anyone recognised it as it could lead to where Touchard might have been perhaps?

Hi there

I found this on Ebay (that has ended).  Maybe your two dishes were ashtrays that have had the metal rims taken off.  Very pretty either way.

thank you!  :)

that makes sense and it's fab to see the gilt surround metalwork on it as it might provide more clues.
Many thanks again

described as
'...and a rare etched cameo glass dish on scrolled brass frame, signed Touchard. Excellent condition. Late-19th century.'

my link to that sale of dolls house items and ashtray is dead
but here is the picture I think
https://www.theriaults.com/collection-very-fine-19th-century-doll-sized-glass

This is a link to a porcelain cup and saucer with hand enamelled writing on the base for F. Touchard, Rue de la Michaudiere No. 12
I have looked up Rue de la Michaudiere and all I come up with is Rue de la Michodiere Paris.

However I did also find that a patent was taken out by an F Touchard at that address, something to do with cars I think - page 507 this link here point 262.
https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=zwkAAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA507&lpg=PA507&dq=touchard+rue+de+la+michodi%C3%A8re&source=bl&ots=NJgRz0ifSU&sig=Slyhzikysl4YBN6hqc6gvgbAl5c&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi8qfq5uMLKAhXGuw8KHbGwDkUQ6AEIKzAC#v=onepage&q=touchard%20rue%20de%20la%20michodi%C3%A8re&f=false

I wonder if Touchard was a kind of 'department' store of some sort although not sure how that fits with patent application.
