Hi Stuart and thanks for the photos.
Here are two more items by Elizabeth McClure.
The first is 17.5cm high by 25cm diameter and inscribed "Elizabeth McClure 1989 Aus 9 ©". There may also be a numeral 5 or 6 between the surname and the year. It was made while McClure was working at the Canberra School of Art (1987-1992). It is clearly a relative of a famous item in the Craft Australia collection viewable
here. It is painted in enamels and possibly influenced by Isgard Moje-Wohlgemuth, who had visited the School a few years earlier. An interesting history of the School - including photographs of McClure at work - can be found
here.
The second item is 21cm high by 9cm diameter and is inscribed "E=McC © '88". The design is trailed on and the piece is frosted on the outside (acid etched?). Interestingly, we found a similar piece recently in a second-hand shop, just slightly taller and smaller in girth and in clear glass. It has the same signature and date. Even more interesting, a similar item to this latter one, but unsigned, was offered for sale just last year in the glass workshop sale at the School, in which they raise funds by clearing out the storage cupboards.
I will send higher resolution photos to Frank.
