I'm being particularly dense here  ::) I assumed when you said 'grooves' you meant the edges of the tiles as we could see them i.e. moulded 'soft' grooves, I just assumed the top edge on your pic was flat as I could see it - do you mean there is one long cut in groove/slot all down the edges of each tile (apart from edge 4)?  Please could we see a pic if so?  Thanks

Could this possibly be a thought?

Scroll down to the bottom of the first page and click on next, then scroll half way down again,  there is a tile edged mirror on the RHS.

Glass Tile for decoration in the loo, or kitchen -- or something -- because it looks like it has to butt up to another since it has a groove in it????

???  Other than that I have no idea ??

So moulded groove, meaning not straight forwards production. I would assume that whatever it was a part of was damaged and what you got was the salvageable tiles. Knowing the groove structure of each piece might give a better clue to purpose. As none have for sided grooves that would imply edging and any corner tiles would need only two grooves on adjacent edges.
