Unidentified vases, does anyone know the maker?
« on: March 08, 2006, 02:25:54 AM »
I want to sell these on Ebay, but haven't any idea who made them:

Vase 1
Vase 1, detail
Vase 2
Vase 2, detail
Women and cats will do as they please,
and men and dogs should get used to the  idea.

Modern Chinese is most likely.

Seconded!

I was "taken in" by exactly these pieces when I first got interested in glass, I'd read about "Graal", but never seen it. When I saw these in an antique shop, quite cheap, I reckoned it was worth getting them, just in case. Having found out what they were, I sold them in Oxfam for nearly what I paid. They're still decorative, I just don't like flowery stuff.

I do like flowery stuff, as you know!

I'd agree, modern Chinese.  I particularly like the second one!   Let me know when you're listing them, Simone

If it's like mine were, the decoration is inside the glass, which is why I thought it might be Graal.

It's inside the glass, like lampworked paperweights and also like my Mayauel Ward. Does it make a difference?

Oh dear.... I had to show my ignorance, but what's Graal?

Thanks Simone, no difference, I was just curious to know how they are made, as I've not seen these before. :)

Hi Simone,
I have just been looking through a file I had saved off the internet, whilst I was researching some of my bud vases.  I have just come across your two vases on those pages!  Made by the Zibo Zhaohai Light Industrial Products Ltd, in China.  Their website page doesn't show them currently, but there was also a yellow flower and a blue flower like your purple one.

I saw them on the internet August 2005, so that will hopefully date them for future reference.
