Is this a vase or type of decanter?
« on: December 26, 2011, 01:53:07 PM »
Well I guess the pictures speak for themselves. Clear vase? with a non-silver top Im guessing. It has no marks anywhere. I thought it was a vase but having just used it as one...the bunch fit in rather tightly. I only bought it because it had me stumped as to what it was :) And then I thought I would make use of it. It did keep the water in rather well...as in the water didn't evaporate very much over a week. It measures 7.5"/19cm. Thats about all the information I can tell you. The pattern on the glass could be hand done? Hope someone can help me, its driven me mad for a few weeks trying to look it up.

Btw, glad to be back on the board and renewing my interest in glass. Debating culling my collection on ebay but I haven't sold anything on there in over 2 years so was wondering if anyone could tell me if its still worth it? I've noticed a few items that cost me dearly in the past are selling for silly (as in low) prices on ebay now. I want to sell so that I can try and stick to some main items as my collection is so varied.

Any advice appreciated and taken on board

I think you are correct Selina - it is a type of decanter that used to be called a carafe when I first started collecting.  Is the collar hallmarked?

I cant find anything on the collar but it may have been repaired at some stage as it looks crooked ? Really hard to see in the neck also.
