Blue Jug - Scandinavian, Whitefriars or something else?
« on: January 24, 2012, 05:06:54 PM »
Hi all,

This is my first posting (after being a silent bystander for sometime), so apologies in advance if I show my ignorance!

I have recently picked up this blown glass jug (attached), and have been searching high and low for an ID. I had thought that it may be Scandinavian. However, Czech is more my thing, so have been going around in circles. It's around 13" in height.

Having search on here I have found a couple of similar pieces. Some of these threads link back to this: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,2754.msg21396.html#msg21396 This is from '05, and the original images are no longer there, so I haven't been able to work out whether the jug being discussed is the same as mine, or infact decipher the conclusion!

Is there anyone who knows the ID of this, or can point me in the right direction? Many thanks in advance.

 :hi:
Glad you decided to join in, welcome!

I don't think this jug has been attributed to any particular maker, but is most likely from Poland.

Thanks for the replies...so glad I finally signed up.

I did think Whitefriars was amiss, but I was trying to untangle the previous posts I have read, without having their pics!

Poland seems about right. I hate not knowing where and when my glass appeared, but I am perhaps a step closer now. Certainly picked up some useful info whilst searching down the wrong path!  ;D
