a few more bottoms for comparison.      The sticker is a more recent example, probably post 1997.        Is that a silver chloride streak Chris, and is it that which qualifies it for being an early piece - very nice by the way. :)

I'm unaware of Alum Bay using silver chloride at all, but the last bit you show might have it in it, Paul. Trust you to be showing bottoms :P
I've not a clue what chris's bit is.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Hi Sue :hi:  I was going to make some lewd comment, but then came over all reserved and chickened out........that last piece was one of AB's milk jugs with the large looped handle (quite a common piece down my way) - although from memory it wasn't silver chloride, but just some sort of ochre/yellow ish colour (I've had one or two of these but think I've given them all away  -  I can't now find one).         Like you, I'm also unaware of AB using chloride, but in truth I've not exactly handled that many of their pieces, so wouldn't like to swear to it  -  perhaps we should ask Colin Green some time.
I was tempted to tell the joke about Oscar Wilde getting to the bottom of the page, but expect you've all heard it anyway. ;)

glad you got there in the end Chris  -  Obviously it came subsequent to my earth coloured piece, which Colin Green was kind enough to id for me, a part of his reply which did confirm that AB used silver chloride in the early days.       I can appreciate the problems this example must have given  -  a colourway and shape that look Maltese - and a recessed pontil that shouts AB.     Great shame you are missing a stopper.        So in all probability Michael Rayner was responsible for your small pot and the larger vase of mine that Greg links.        Not sure if we're supposed to apologise to Stew for sidetracking this thread, but it is all related I guess.

It's interesting to see the differences between earlier and later pieces. Is there a book?

Is there a link to for AB and Malta beyond the visual?
It's interesting that Whitefriars were doing something similar at the same time (68/69) and then '72 I.o.W. and AB.
It's interesting to read Mdina's official version of events with no mention of Michael Harris.
Found this informative too: http://www.glassfairs.co.uk/Articles/mdina.html and I am going off at a tangent.
