Topic: ID help pleas, 2 of 3 art glass vases

Here is the second one - a beaked vase solid and heavy, with not quite random yet not very controlled bubbles either!
My digital scales only go up to 3kg and they went EEEEEEEEEE! so on parcel scales it weighs 5kgs. 40cm tall, 14cm at widest point with a ground and polished base.

Again, any pointers to age, country, maker gratefully received. I have a couple of thoughts on it but don't want to embarass myself  :ooh: in case I'm way off the mark

I believe this one is contemporary Chinese, possibly from TKMaxx, but it may have been found elsewhere.

this one has been on the board before I think - I'll have a search round to see if I can find it.
Pretty vase but I 'think' I'm with Sue, that it is a contemporary vase.

thanks for your replies Sue & M, think I've said it before, I really must get to TKMaxx and look at this glass LOL,

do you remember how much you saw them priced at Sue, as clearly I need to move it on with a 'contemporary' description attached.

Would be interested to see any threads you can dig out M, and I'm glad I didnt spend ages cleaning all the muck of ages out of the nooks and crannies thats probably contemporary Chinese too LOL

I don't pay too much attention to prices. I go to study what's coming out of the far east and other newer companies. I look at the styles, I look at the finishes, I look at the techniques, I try to get an understanding of how quickly they're all improving and what they're producing.

I need to know what to look out for on "antique" stands.

Most of the Chinese glass in TKMaxx seems to be less than £15. I was looking at some huge vases at that price before Christmas. Smaller ones range from £5-£10 depending on size and style. Most of the glass there was Chinese, with a few pieces of Polish and some bits of generic Murano just to ring the changes.

Yes, gone are the days when you find wonderful Beranek, Tarnowiec, Caithness, Krosno and even some decent Murano there.
There was some good Ichendorf a while back.

I was there yesterday. There were massive multicoloured fazzoletto style vases for ~ £10.
Then later, I saw one of them, drilled to make it into a lamp (with the bulb inside the vase) priced at £99 in an "antique" shop.
