Unknown maker - Walther? vase
« on: February 17, 2012, 03:39:05 AM »
I have searched high and low to no avail. I have a 25 cm tall ice blue (transparent) vase identical to this completed listing on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Art-deco-vintage-pressed-glass-vase-Walther-ruby-glass-/180694764869?pt=Antiques_Decorative_Arts&hash=item2a123f4d45#ht_600wt_1167

The seller seems to feel that this vase is by Walther, but I can't otherwise prove it. Any help much appreciated.
Diane

Hi and welcome Diana,
the colour is none I´d instantaneously associate with Walther.
But you could go rummaging through Pamela´s wonderful sites:

Hi,
This vase is Czech, I had one a while ago with a circular 'Made in Czecholsovakia' acid stamp. I'm sure the maker was eventually identified; I don't have my reference materials to hand, but I think it was Feigl & Morawetz, Libochovice. If you've got Marcus's Sklo Union book, have a look through the Libochovice before 1958 catalogue.

Many thanks to all for the help and the warm welcome. I don't have the Sklo Union book in my library, but it's about time I did spring for it.
