Knobbly clear drinking glass - ID ideas?
« on: February 20, 2012, 05:33:31 PM »
Clear drinking glass with knobbles which measures a shade under 12cm tall. I assume that it is crystal as it is light and it rings nicely. No makers marks visible. Any help appreciated.

It's not bullseye is it? Tthe knobs look too small. It's more like this http://lustrousstone.co.uk/cpg/displayimage.php?pid=1318 but much smaller

sorry, I don't see the connection with that piece of Webb's Sunshine  :-\      I do agree that the 'eyes' are too pointy to be 'bullseye', though.

There seems to be quite a variation in the protuberance or flatness of the 'lumps' these amber pieces are far more pronounced than the clear one..... ;D ;D

1/........you probably know better than me Keith about variation of the 'eyes' - just that this one did seem more pointy than any I have seen.
2/........I still can't see the connection between Christine's pattern/design of decoration, and this post.
3/........Not sure what I'm looking at on the base of this item  -  is it a ground/polished pontil, or not??   :)

Bullseye seems to had large widely spaced "eyes", even on glasses.

This one and my vase seem to have smaller much closer spaced eyes.

The base centre is raised but very smooth.  Inside of the glass at the bottom, there is also a raised knobble.

Looks like I may have to bow my head to Christine :pb: I see what you mean about the spacing and all 12 of my pieces have polished pontil marks, could this one have been a later production?

quote.............."The base centre is raised but very smooth".............would appear then not to have a ground/polished pontil mark, and therefore unlikely to be Webb. :)
