Help with ID Please - burner or fragrance ?
« on: February 27, 2012, 08:34:44 PM »
Hello all and thanks for you continued help

Does anyone know who made and what this thing is??  It is only 3 inches tall and has a tight fitting dome lid and a little porcelain collar that hold the "wick" in the top.  It looks like a burner but it has no real fixings so I assume it was for aromas from soaking the wick in fragrant oils?  The glass is dusky grey colour so am thinking it is old?

Thanks for any help

markus

Alcohol burner for sterilising implements etc. in surgeries and pharmacies. These have been in use until relatively recent times and they are not rare - even in unused condition.

 HI ,
Mikebonne,,,,,,,      You asked a question about an item that you had no knowledge of , within 30 minutes you received a complete and accurate description of it !!!!!!! , Ivos answer may have been short , but in no way curt, why write a symphony when a short ditty says it all ????, Many people give a lot of there time freely on this board to do exactly as you requested , provide an ID , if every answer went into the whys wherefores and whens in depth then some questions would never be answered,

I feel your response was completely unwarranted and completely unappreciative of the speedy and factual response to something you had no idea about.

  Cheers ,
              Peter.

I agree with oldglassman. Uncalled for and a little diva like. Clear concise answer given.
Pete. :-)
