Thought this was an interesting example of a blue Mdina Pulled Ear vase

Looking at the button top and small size, definitely early in date, however, looking at the colour alone I would have thought slightly later in date.

Small amounts of iridescence and thousands on minute bubbles. Measures 5 inches tall.

I would have thought the pronounced ears made this a later piece. A button rim on a pulled ear does not necessarily mean it is early production. At least according to Mark Hills book

Hi Nemmie, I think the pulled ears appear a little larger than they are in the pictures.  Fairly, certain this would date to pre 72, looking at the button top and small overall size at just 5 inches. Normally difficult to tell when these blue  pulled ears were produced, as they were made over quite a few years, however, this one would appear to indicate fairly early production.

Another picture added for comparison, against a later pulled ear.

The overall shape indicates early, Greg. Sort of egg-ish. Later ones had wider and flatter shoulders.
It's not the darker, later "jewell-like" blue at all - that's more akin to wfs kingfisher - possibly deeper.

In early bits, the colour can vary a lot, but it's never the deep shade of the later stuff.

Good point about the shape of shoulders on the later pulled ear vases, they tend to remind me of the Dynasty shaped shoulder pads from the 80s!

That part of the book had always puzzled me but now it makes sense.
