Topic: Mystery Quality Comport??

trying hard to get a lead on this piece of quality glass if i can its a lovely black and yellow comport very stylish and a good weight plenty of age related scuffing to the small edge ring it sits on and has remnants of a small oval label on foot as per photograph. The piece is 8" wide and 6" high approx, It was blown i guess but not sure of construction as its so well finished off it isnt uranium either.
rim edge outside and top is cut not polished.

I can't help with an id I'm afraid but I love your comport  - great colours!
I just wonder why the rim wasn't polished?  it seems a shame on such a classy looking piece of glass.

Hiya and thanks for the welcome. Great site you have here.
Well the rim is slightly edged off on the outside and top but hasnt been polished in flames to give that lovely smooth finish im not very good with the terms on things. I did wonder if it might qualify as tango glass czech style...or murano!..Very hard to say.

It's ground and polished, but not fire polished. It's not tango glass. Italy, but probably not Murano, seems likely.

I agree with Christine that Italy (Empoli) is the most likely source of this item and I think there may have been a hollow blown lid to the dish. Timewise I'd say late 50s or 60s. The colour is often referred to as "Pineapple".

Amasing thanks cant argue with that googled and have spotted the type you mention with lids,
Never knew empoli did good quality glass no disrespect meant just it always looks boring in books.
