Sam Herman at 'London Glassblowing'!
« on: March 31, 2012, 06:30:36 PM »
Had a wonderful day at London Glassblowing (Peter Layton's studio) watching the great Sam Herman, assisted by Layne Rowe!  I have hundreds of photo's to process and OH has vidoe to edit.  Watch this space, but here's a couple of pics to "whet your whistles"   ;D

Wow that is like being in the presence of a god (of glass).

Look forward to seeing more!

Two greats of glass working together - just one more established than the other to date - what a treat............
I'm a bit speechless, but I want the smaller of the two vases in the pic with two in!

Thank-you so much for taking pics - I think if I'd been there I'd have been too awestruck to manage to pay attention to anything!
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

I wanted that one, Sue!  Apparently it's one of Sam's favourites, made in 1982 and from his own personal collection.  Sam didn't want to sell it but Peter Layton persuaded him, so Sam priced it high NOT to sell!  ;)  I haggled, and I think I probably could have got it a bit cheaper, but Jonathan said no, we really couldn't afford it!  Boo hoo  :'(

But I want to see the ones Sam and Layne made while we were there!  They were massive!   :o

J took loads of video, but he needs to edit it and join bits together, and he doesn't know how to!  Anyone volunteer to give him a few lessons?

I always feel rather chuffed when the artist and I (and you too!) agree on what is their best work. 8)
It sort of reassures me I do connect with it the way I want to.

For those who are interested, here's the link to the album with all the photos I took, including some lovely pieces of glass by Peter Layton and his other studio artists.

Wonderful - I'm a lot more than slightly jealous - again, thank you so much for all your trouble taking photos to share.  :-* :-* :-*
