Topic: slump shaped candleholder dish with EPNS base.

Is this colour electric blue - I'm not sure - but do know that the top chrome holder is for a candle as there was a little hardened wax remaining.
The entire pedestal base was originally EPNS, which now all gone, and unable to find any other marks so haven't a clue as to maker or date, but am inclined to think British in view of the EPNS  -  also not entirely sure of use.    Diameter is about 10" - and height about 7.3/4"      Would welcome anyone's ideas, and thanks for looking.

could be a possiblity, I hadn't thought of epergne - I mentioned the candle as there certainly was a little hardened wax in part of the moulding.   Just my luck not to have all the parts perhaps..

Interesting article Paul! - Looking at the picture, had similar feelings that it was perhaps a tazza or epergne. Just wondering how the chrome holder on the top is fixed or fitted...? I presume its glued or fixed solid to the top.

Does the pedestal base seem to fit neatly tot the glass top..?

I imagine the base and the top are screwed together through the glass. I wonder if the glass is American

Christine is quite correct - the chrome top carries a threaded rod which passes through the glass and screws into the pedestal.     The fitting is tight and all parts seem original.       I think the surface of the glass has a satin finish possibly.     I wouldn't have said tazza - but only guessing, and might simply be a decorative object with the idea of a flower in the glass epergne - or you might put fruit into the bowl part.

the good thing is though Paul, that you can find an epergne flute of any colour  contrasting glass, which shouldn't be too difficult, and it will still look fabulous filled with fruit and a some flowers in the flute

appreciate the sentiments m, but the chronic condition of the pedestal - having lost all of the silver coating - makes it look very tacky in the flesh.    Someone had painted the pedestal in silver hammerite, which I removed with paint stripper - then stupidly wondered whether it might be feasible to get it re-plated.    Ludicrous idea really - and since it has a rather large footprint, combined with a part missing plus the fact that I don't collect this sort of thing, means...............it will go to the charity shop quite soon.    With the help here I now know what use it was intended for and that is result enough for me, so thanks to all.       I have enough trouble displaying and storing all the other sorts I collect, withough doing Epergnes as well, but must admit to liking the colour of the glass.           From memory it was £1 at a boot sale some few weeks back.
