appreciate the sentiments m, but the chronic condition of the pedestal - having lost all of the silver coating - makes it look very tacky in the flesh. Someone had painted the pedestal in silver hammerite, which I removed with paint stripper - then stupidly wondered whether it might be feasible to get it re-plated. Ludicrous idea really - and since it has a rather large footprint, combined with a part missing plus the fact that I don't collect this sort of thing, means...............it will go to the charity shop quite soon. With the help here I now know what use it was intended for and that is result enough for me, so thanks to all. I have enough trouble displaying and storing all the other sorts I collect, withough doing Epergnes as well, but must admit to liking the colour of the glass. From memory it was £1 at a boot sale some few weeks back.
