Blue Glass Candlestick
« on: April 26, 2012, 02:44:33 PM »
Any ideas on the maker of this. It is about 18cm in height (I will correct it later if wrong) No marks but Im thinking Scandinavian after not finding it in Dartington (its how my head works) as I had 2 Dartington Bristol Blue glass items and this is very similar in colour and bought from the same place.  Please ignore the lump of sponge in second 'ball', I will remove this when I find my Gripper tool !!!
Pete. :-)

Hi,
itīs been made by Alfred Taube glassworks in Vohenstrauss - somewhere inthe  60īs or 70īs.
The design also comes with one and three bubbles (canīt recall ever having seen four, but canīt
exclude) and in varirous colours and in clear part-frosted.

Thanks very much dirk. I have now seen a few with one ball and they were listed as Scandi but when I read their write up it was very vague and said possibly. Nice to have someone with your knowledge to help. Thanks again.

a topic that leads to another

No need for apologies, as you said, one thing leads to another,  and its all about the learning. I managed to get the sponge out. Wont be making that mistake again  ;D. Thanks again Dirk.

Wait until you get a three bubble version and try to remove wax from the inside of the bottom...
mission impossible :P

I use a tool that is for picking up nuts and bolts dropped into engines. Not sure what they are  called. A button on top opens a gripper in the end and when you release the button it grabs. Very flexible and manoeuvrable with  good strong grip for a hot cloth. Great for the little nooks and crannies that you cant reach. Need to buy another as mine has mysteriously gone and 'wasn't me' must have taken it again !!!
