Murano (?) Kidney bean shape bowl/ashtray
« on: May 11, 2012, 03:53:21 PM »
Does anyone have any ideas on which factory made this.

I love it. So tactile - weighs a ton. Flat bottomed.
Many thanks, Anthony

A photo from the side, low down showing the profile and a shot of the base is likely to be useful.

I can't say who made it but it has a look of Per Lutken's stuff about it.

Agree with other comments. Some nice clear photos from different angles and a shot of the base would be helpful.

Ok. Thanks. That's interesting. It was sold to my as Murano - but I think that's the default setting for many people when it comes to glass. It does have a whiff of Scandinavia about it. Here's some more pics...
Many thanks, Anthony

I say pot-ay-to. You say pot-ah-to.

You say tom-ay-to. I say tom-ah-to.

You say kidney shape. I say kidney bean shape.

Let's call the whole thing off...
Many thanks, Anthony

Are you thinking it's quite new Ivo?  Don't know if you're talking about the shape or the term?

I must say it looks like a completely different piece of glass in photo 1 than 2 and now I'm back tracking on the Per Lutken comment. Just because I don't know enough and it doesn't look like what I know to be.

Colours are unusual. Not sure what is being picked up from the surroundings.

I see some wear on the base that looks random like age.

Looks like Murano to me. No particular factory comes to mind, though.

And I thought it looked Czech...

Still can not tell from your photos though, how about another looking  from above but at a shallow angle (not as high up as your first one). Perhaps one from directly above too.

There is little point if the photos are not in focus, use the macro setting on your camera for shooting close to items, look for a button with a little flower icon.  A white background helps - a sheet or two of white paper works fine.
