Small (9cm high) thick walled globe shaped vase, pink cased in opaque white glass cased in a thin layer of clear glass, flat polished base.

This style usually seems to be described as "Alabastro" (but may just be cased opaline glass), and attributed to Archimede Seguso...

I have not much doubt it is Murano glass; but any idea of the maker?
This vase seems very similar regarding the colours...

Thanks,
Michael

I don't think it is alabastro. From what I've read, alabastro can crack when cased because of compatibility problems. What this means, I don't know. Casing it would also take away the nice opaque surface people are seeking with alabastro. I can't help with who made the vase, but it is cased, it most likely is not alabastro. (I am not a glass chemistry expert, so you are welcome to question anything I wrote.)

Anita, thanks a lot for your reply!
I wouldn't think of questioning your words :)

Would you agree that it is (most probably) Murano, though?

Michael

It's totally okay to question me when it comes to glass chemistry because I know nothing about it. I read things on the internet, but we know how reliable that can be.

Your vase looks like it could be Murano glass, but I couldn't say for sure. It's a type that could have been made several places. It would be nice to have a label on this one. I hope someone else will recognize it.
