Help to identify a glass Ashtray please?

Hi,
 Can anybody please help identify what I believe to be an Ashtray?  Its been around for years and measures approx 4" length x 3" height.
I have always thought it depicted a leaf?
I have been curious for years. Thank you in advance.

Yes, this is one of the most common pieces of Mdina, and 100s, if not 1000s have been made
