Hi All,
I thought this was an interesting item, although a little unsure as to age and origin.
Not sure if this would be best described as threaded or Veined, as the threads/veins change colour slightly towards the top of the vase and also taper slightly in size going up the vase towards the rim.
Has an iridescent quality to the glass, enhanced by gold flecks which appear to be aventurine. Has an inverted/kicked up base with clear snapped pontil mark, which is slightly sharp to the touch in places.
Just under 9 inches tall and weighs 741 grams.
Appears to have clear similarities with some Bohemian early 20th century designs although there is slightly less base wear than I would have expected. Therefore, I am also wondering whether there is also a possibility this could be a contemporary studio piece influenced by earlier bohemian designs.
I have taken a few different photos, some with flash and some without to try and show the iridescence and decor as best as possible. (There are a few photos attached to this and the next post)
Certainly an interesting item, any thoughts welcome.
Many thanks
Greg
