There is a synthetic label to the polished base, unfortunately the print has worn away.

Coincidence........I saw the same thing this morning in a charity shop, and the label said 'Made in China'.        The labels seem to be made of some sort of plastic, and I would imagine the ink fades.

That is  a nice design and looks to be very nicely finished with a completely polished base.
Are the edges of the polished base bevelled?

I have a very similar one of these in blue. It was sold to me here in Australia as Murano and looked great in the photos, but I think it is Chinese.

Although it is finished well it is very thick and feels clumsy to me. It also has no signs of wear - very new production I think.  I paid too much and was very disappointed in it!  :(

I would believe Paul's labelled version!

viewed from a photograph, and without knowledge of the label, it would be only natural to believe this was from the Gulf of Venice - so the mistake is understandable.     The one I picked up yesterday I held for only a second or two once I'd seen the label, but what gives it away, when seen in the flesh, is that the bubbles lack the refinement and symmetry of a Murano piece - and as Jackie says, it is a bit too thick.   However, if it was simply a case of wanting a colourful decorators piece then this might fit the bill - although not someting for a glass collector.

I wasn't questioning the origin of the vase.  I was merely observing that seeing it in photographs and not in the flesh, with the well polished base etc, it is getting to the point where, in photographs, these can now easily be mistaken in some cases for Murano glass.
Buyer beware.

I was in TKMaxx the other week, checking up. The quality of Chinese glass is seriously improving, the kinds of things being done involve serious skill, and they're being finished off nicely.

I came away, though, from handling them all, with my hands feeling all greasy and stinking strongly of non-brewed condiment...
