Blue trinket holder signed B - manufacturer please
« on: September 06, 2009, 07:06:15 PM »
I presume this is a little trinket holder that is missing its lid. It stands on 4 feet and has panelled edges with ribbed rim and side wings (please what are these bits called).  It looks like glistening sand grains and has an embossed triangle with a capital B in the middle on the bottom.  The bottom part of the B is much more exagerated than the top part of the B.  Which manufacturer made this? Which year please? and if I may was it supposed to have a lid?

Can't make out the markings from your pic., but it sounds like the B in the bottom of the triangle could be part of a Victorian glass registration lozenge.  The letters at the bottom denote the month.  There should be some other markings too.  Sometime they are very faint and difficult to see.  Could be something like Sowerby, but someone here will recognise the piece I'm sure :D

Thank you Anne you had me intrigued so have just been scrutinising this pot but I see no other markings apart from the B as described in the triangle.  Would it help if I said the triangle isnt sharp angles the corners are curved slightly.  I did discover a couple of fine cracks I hadn't noticed before but for 1euro one shall not complain.  If anyone else can feed into this that would be very helpful.

Revisiting this - Margi, does the pot have a wee ledge inside it to hold a lid steady?
