Clear and yellow trinket box id please = Ernst Buder
Alison:
any help on id would be great
Anne:
Your trinket set pot is Czechoslovakian, probably made at Rosice. The matching candle stick is still shown in the 1987, 1991 & 1992 GlassExport catalogues for the Rosice works, but the earliest catalogue on Marcus Newhall's CD database (Sklo Union Art Before Industry: 20th Century Czech Pressed Glass) is for 1957 and the rest of the set isn't shown in that, so I'd suspect it is pre-WW2. I've seen this set in all clear glass, clear with ruby, clear with amethyst, and clear with yellow.
Raymond Notley's book Miller's Popular Glass of the 19th & 20th Centuries gives a clear/yellow example as "Czech, 1930s", which until we can track down a catalogue entry for it will be as close as we can say.
Alison:
Hi Anne, thank you very much for that information, i am learning so much on this site
best regards
Alison
agincourt17:
I’ve just checked the Newhall CD-ROM 1987 Rosice catalogues again, and the candlestick is on page 20 as pattern no. 5136 / 14cm
Photos now of a set (tray, pair of 5136 candlesticks, and lidded pot) in clear and amber, plus a tray and 5136 candlesticks in clear, and just the lidded pot in clear.
The tray doesn't appear in the pre-1958 or the 1987-and-after Rosice catalogues.
(Permission to re-use the images of the clear & amber set on GMB granted by maisy-patcheye, the clear tray with the candlesticks by lesley123.2011).
Anne:
Thanks for adding the pics of the other pieces Fred, I also have, but don't have permission to use, photos of these pieces with dark red on clear, where the ones you show are amber on clear.
