Thanks for your comments Gary - hope the weight didn't make you feel seasick !!
I am told it was probably made as a centrpiece for glassware on display at exhibitions or trade sales that Strathearn attended and in those days these were held in Blackpool.

Hi Dave,
              i stay right at the sea so i dont get seasick, i only get glass sick which is when somebody has a piece of glass that i wished i had hehehehe, anyway maybe it is a sea type thing if they held these exhibitions in blackpool as the canes on the petals look like suckers you get on octupuss ect,

Thanks to you all for your replies - Yes Frank you can use the pictures in your catalogue and No Ray - I have never seen a weight like your bull.
Obviously Strathearns are popular with you all so here is a picture of an unusual concentric.
