discusses and shows, among other things, the similarity of the basic shape of the pieces making up various Walther sets. Of particular significance to this topic thread are:

A green uranium glass Walter Mary variant set with short candlesticks having an elongated hexagonal base and a prominent horizontal ring or platform between the top of the stem and the candleholder cup; a tray with short two straight sides and two ‘curved’ sides, and a sort of diagonal quilted or chequerboard base with the ‘squares’ scalloped underneath; pot lid finials like a flattened fishtail with 3 ‘scoops’ at the top.

Walther Poseidon set with the overall shape of the tray being similar to the Walther Mary variant set, and the overall shape of the candlesticks and pot lid finials also similar (though they obviously differ in the detail of decorative surface pattern, and the top edges of the Poseidon pot lid finials are flat).

The sets shown in this current topic thread have so many features in common with the Walther Mary and Walther Poseidon sets that it they just HAVE to have been made by Walther – don’t they?

Fred.
