Pontil scar = with the rough break of pontil.
Polished pontil = the finished pontil.
So, maybe not the same, and perhaps leaves room for misinterpretation if you only say 'pontil scar'. I'm afraid I agree with krsilber and don't think pedentry is involved at all

Both definitions above have two words, as does 'finished pontil'
