Topic: Ysart Pedestal paperweight

Ok, third time trying to post this...let's hope it is a charm.  Grabbed this weight the other day as I collect a few pedestal weights and the price was right....I think it was anyway.  Sure it is Ysart but my limited knowledge does not allow me to narrow it down from there.  My limited research indicates possibly early Paul Ysart?  I am looking for any details you can give me...period when made, etc.  is this this a common style of weight?

The piece is fairly hefty, weighing 4.5 to 5.5 pounds and stands a little over 6.5 inches and 4 inches wide.  Base is concave and polished with a few creases at the pontil area..forgot to get a pic.  Thanks in advance.

The glass does appear to be smokey as it appears in the first picture.  I meant to state that in the first post...it was left out after the third attempt

It's all a bit pink, rather than smoky!
Sorry, I can't help with an id, I am completely unfamiliar with pwts... I don't know if any Ysart did any pedestal ones atall.

Well done!! What a beauty!!! I have no doubt that it is by Paul Ysart (but the specialists will confirm this attribution, I hope). He has done some pedestal weights but they are rare. I have never seen one in the flesh (so to speak) and I never seen one with a fountain (which is what this is, I think).

Because of the colour of the glass, I suspect that it is Moncrieff period (I would suggest pre-war rather than post-war but it is difficult to be sure without the short and long wave checks).

You are a lucky person! I would love to own it.

I agree with Sophie's comments.

Very rare. But now that we have seen this one, perhaps others will come to light (as has happened with a few items by Salvador Ysart)!

Thanks for the input.  After paying closer attention to the glass, it does indeed have a bit of color to it....a slight pink or purple color.  I guess my eyes are not as good as they once were.  I am glad to know my initial impressions were confirmed, thanks in part to all the wonderful information gathered off this site and other sites that the members here contribute.
