Philip (Arthur) Jacobs of Port Macquarie, Australia slumped & kiln formed glass

So in a little op shop at East Gosford in NSW Australia I buy this glass plate.  It has a sticker, a signature and a brilliant colour and design. The only Philip Jacobs I can find is the USA  http://www.earthandfirestudio.net/artist_statement.html. I have emailed him with pictures of the peice hoping he can identify it and give me a year and place so we can archive it here,.

I have contacted some glass sutdios in Australia and they dont know anyone by that name. Why do I pick up quandries.

Doing a bit of lateral thinking, I wondered if this might be by Philip Jacobs the UK fabric designer? We know that designers get asked to do all sorts of things, not just what they are best known for - so it's perhaps worth an ask? http://www.flickr.com/people/philipjacobs/
