possible biscuit barrel in cut glass for id
« on: February 23, 2013, 02:48:39 PM »
bit of a long shot really  -  but am thinking biscuit barrel in view of the lack of water staining which might be apparent had it been a vase, although missing its lid if it was for biscuits.
Outlined deep curved mitres like these are typical of much mid C20 Stuart material (nd to a lesser extent W/Corbett), and the style of cutting looks very late 1940's - 50's - but don't see this pattern in the books  -  cutting feels quite sharp, and rings well when flicked.
About 5.75" - 145mm tall, and plenty of wear to the outer foot area beyond the star cut.              I've scoured the bottom but no mark that I can see.

Just wondered if anyone recognized it or knew the name of the design, and thanks for looking. :)
