thanks Neil  -  very nice piece, and described by the factory as flint, I believe, rather than clear.       It's possible that your example might be of an earlier date than mine, although I see that flint was still being offered in the 1938 catalogue.     Wish you luck with yours.

Hi Paul, yes I believe that Whitefriars used the term flint for clear glass.  I have a bit of an aversion to using the term as it originates historically, of course, from the use of flints rather than sand to make glass.  Something which I believe did not happen at Whitefriars.   In any case it's priced at a level where I hope to keep it for a few years yet!!
