Salviati handblown goblet
« on: April 15, 2013, 02:25:41 AM »
In 1962 my father went to Venice and purchased a dozen handblown water (?) goblets from Salviati and had them shipped to the US.  He unwrapped one glass which subsequently broke at the stem.  The other 11 have never been unwrapped since until I opened one yesterday to photograph.  The stem is gold adventurine per my dad.  the glasses are about 9 inches tall.  Can anyone tell me the approximate value of these glasses and whether it is best to sell them on eBay or ??

Nice to see a full (well almost) set of these...  . And properly attributed.  It is not aventurine but gold leaf. Aventurine is opaque.

The board does not do values. Best search past auctions on e-bay and remember sets have a higher value than individual glasses - often around 50%.

In the UK bidding is not very good at the moment on that type of glass , its a bit better in the USA , I suggest you have a look at completed listings on Italian glass on ebay in UK and USA  that may give you an idea , one of the problems is the Italian firms are making them again and its affecting the market .
