Riihamaki? Please help with ID.
« on: April 27, 2013, 11:21:41 PM »
Hi. I'm a newcomer to the world of Scandinavian glass and this site was suggested to me.
I discovered this Vase recently and acquired it mainly because I just loved the design and also because I remember seeing a few similar shapes at a antique fair. When I got home, I avidly tried to look up the design. So far, Ive found a couple of examples on ebay and a commercial dealer that describe it as generic Scandinavian and possibly Riihimaki. Are they right or is it just wishful thinking? Any help to pin down the maker would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Welcome to the board.

This design is often assumed to be from Riihimaki but it turns out that it is not, at present it appears to be maker unknown. They turn up in a few colours and there is also a straight sided version (rather then tapering like yours), the quality is good. It may be that we have to wait for a couple to turn up with labels to find the manufacturer.

Here is a 'straight' blue example:

Could be a relation to this one by Lindshammar?
