Around the plinth it reads  'Walt Disney P' - and underneath that what looks like  'Produc p  Fons'.          Could well be a centre piece for a bowl, and not sure if the paint is original or applied later onto the frosted glass.          thanks for looking              A tad under 6" tall (150mm).
Can't you just hear the bluebirds singing, and in the distance a chorus of 'Hey Ho, Hey Ho'

thanks........I see what you mean  -  very stylized and odd looking, but guess that's what it must be  -  doh.
Do you think that means it was made in the States then - or possibly that someone else had manufacturing rights for the model?

Paul you are in for an uphill battle. Disney Productions issued thousands of licenses worldwide beginning in the late 30s up to today. Problem always is that although you may be able to eventually find the license holder 90% of the time the item in question was produced by a subcontractor & 90% of that time the subcontractor is an unknown. Now as for the item I think you really have something there from the 30s after the movie from 1937 & popularity for Snow White pieces was high. The movie was in the vault until the 50s when it was reintroduced so maybe 50s, but I am thinking 30s. What you need to find is either a book on Disneyana or an individual who is a Disneyana specialist...if its a 30s piece its awfully good. I've never seen on in glass. As to who made the pour...its back to what you can uncover as to the license holder. Ken

I was wondering if the peculiar lettering might have been a way somebody tried to get around the armed fortress of Disney copyright stuff, early on?
I've got the original ('30s) published piano score of songs from Snow White stuffed in the bottom of the piano stool.

Ken - thanks for your thoughts.            The modeling is quite good, and there is added quality when a piece has refinements such as the separation of upper arm from the body.          I'd never previously thought about these characters in glass  -  I seem to recall having seen  Disney models in ceramics - and if you've not seen one in glass then perhaps they are scarce  -  I've not seen anything in the U.K.          I'll try and give it some time soon, and see if I can dig around and find any information.        The circular plinth suggests it might have stood inside something, but I am really only guessing, and it's just my opinion.

Hi Paul s,
I do remember a few years back thinking of bidding on a simiar item which had the same high lighted colour detail and of similar size and shape but which was pinocchio, To my dismay after auction end i ran accross the same piece in millars glass by jeanette hayhurst p40 bottom left described as a 1940-50s disney car maskot. Im sure being disney they would have designed a run of various characters in the range..and the design of yours is very simillar i would put money on it being from the same range....

and rare and unusual Disney items are highly collectable  (well, they were when my friend sold her early Mickey Mouse money box, although it might also depend on the character being depicted)

I know really early and rather ratty-looking Mickeys sell well, but my enthusiasm for disneyania has been somewhat dampened by Disney's unpleasant reputation for staff abuse and money-grubbing practices.
I only mentioned the piano score because it's an original bit of ancient disney stuff.
I play classical Paul, but in the words of Peter Hall, I can play a Scubert sonata for my own pleasure - but not for the pleasure of anybody else
