Topic: Id for glass bowl, with black base, etched to base

Another one for an id if possible.  Clear glass bowl with black base. 
I'm not sure if it bf gw1b1, or 6f GW 161, or whatever.  Can anyone assist please.

Looks like "of" for Orrefors, no idea about the rest of the code...

101 for 101

Just to expand on the info Gate being Simon Gate if the number is 101 then design year 1931 if it's 161 then 1935

Thanks for your responses.   Based on the first reply being that it was 'of' for Orrefors, I sent an email to them, and have just received a response.

"The sign is  Of GU 101.
The Of stands for Orrefors.
G stands for the designer Simon Gate and U stands for
that the product is made in the blowing room.
There is not a engraved or cut pattern.
101 is an article number"

I have also established that, yes, it was made in the 1930's, and it is crystal (it has a beautiful ring to it).

What I wanted to find out now is - is it okay to ask on this forum what sort of value this bowl would have?  If it is not the done thing, I will completely understand.  I just don't know where to start with what it may be worth.

For something that is over 80 years old, it has a very 'today' look about it, beautiful simple shape and design, and I really cannot believe it's condition after all this time.  I seriously did not think it would be so old!!!

Value is such a complicated concept that we do not give values here. What your best shot is, go to Ebay past auctions and find similar items. You need to be aware though, that a sale in the past does not necessarily means that that is the value for the future - it may be a coincidental one.  Auction houses are another source, as are websites.  Often you will be baffled by the difference in what you get when you sell one, and what you have to pay when you want one.

I might try an auction house and find out what they have to say about it. 

I've had this for many years, but really have no use for it.  It is great though to finally find out the background behind this lovely piece.
