Benny Motzfeldt Cheese Dome With Glass Plate
« on: June 06, 2013, 07:18:10 PM »
Hi,
I picked up this set and trying to figure out if the glass underplate is original to the dome. From looking around I see the domes but they are on a wood base. The colours are the same but that could be just luck in matching them up. The plate is 10 3/4" wide, there is an indent around the plate where the dome fits. Hoping someone will know.
Thanks for looking
mary

Like you I've only ever seen these with a teak board before. You've either got a rarity or a clever marriage!

Here's from the 1969 Hadeland catalogue. The cheese came optional, I suppose...

That is wonderful, thank-you so much for posting the photo mbmb :) Now I have to decide if I should keep it or sell it.
Thanks again

Interesting; in the 1967 catalogue it's called Benny and shown on the teak base. There is also a matching jar (slidekrukke) and a jam pot

So I wonder if they made the glass base for only 1 year? I did find domes in different sizes - does it mention different sizes in the catalogue?
