Palais Royale Watch Holder
« on: June 06, 2013, 09:02:46 PM »
Forgive my ignorance. I picked this up recently & finally found an attribution as a watch holder, French. My question is just how small were these watches as both of them I found on line & mine are rather small at 4 1/2" height X 2 3/4" width. Thanks, Ken

My son's have one each and one of them is 1 5/8" diameter, the other is 2 1/8".
Presumably when you gave the diameter it was the diameter of the bowl for the watch, so I would think that both would fit in there  :)

These are old pocket watches :)
but one is a men's and one a ladies (the smaller).  The larger is quite large in reality and heavy.  Glad we have wrist watches now  ;D

The distance between the hook and the bowl is the exact answer you are looking for. The chain goes inside the bowl, the watch is hung up.

ooh I did wonder Ivo -  I hadn't spotted the hook and just assumed they should sit in the bowl on that one  ??? thought it was a bit weird lol.
