Topic: Pukeberg Ashtray

Can anyone tell me about this ashtray? I know it's Pukeberg and was give to my father in early 80's. any value?

I'm not so sure that your piece is an ashtray  - it doesn't have the expected cut-outs in which to lay your 'fag'      An example is showing on page 127 of the Vigier & Pina volume 'Scandinavian Glass 1930 - 2000 Smoke & Ice'  -  where it's described simply as a cast bowl.     Should have a side measurement of about 8.5" (21.60 cms.), and would originally have had the factory black and white label.
Regret I'm clueless as to the current popularity of Swedish glass, so no idea of market values - and as you may know, what is of value to some people may be considered far less so to others, and for these reasons folk here will not usually give values for glass.      Ebay of other sources for collectable glass may be your best bet for some indication of value.

Having said that, the above book, like so many States produced volumes, does in fact give - what at the time of publication may have been seen as a fair market guide to price.      Before I break any GMB rules, can someone say if it's acceptable to give book information of that nature.            Apologies if this seems pedantic.

Thank you for the info  . The original black & white Pukeberg label is still on it. I'll look for the reference you gave me.  Looking on ebay I never saw anything really comparable. People have offered to buy it and I just don't want to under-sell. Thanks again.

Book values are in most instances un-realistic  -  that is until you yourself want to buy something

I think it is OK to say that the book gives a value for this bowl of 75 - 125 $$  - but bear in mind the book is from 2003, which is just before the crisis.

Very nice item.
Book price is the retail price, assuming you had an Antique/Collectables stall to sell it from. If you were selling it at auction or ebay then, as a general rule of thumb, buyers would be looking to buy it for half that price, unless you had a couple of very keen collectors bidding it up. However, Pukeberg isn't as popular as glass companies like Iittala and Orrefors, which keeps the price down.
