Topic: Is it Czech?

Hi

Hoping someone may be able to identify this piece of glass, amber and clear glass vase, I would say it is more pointy than knobbly it also has a rough pontil, not marked or signed, measures approximately 12 inch high, I was guessing at Czech?

I was looking to sell the piece online but wanted to first establish who it was by and it's country of origin.

Any help or direction would be greatly received.

Probably China, they were on sale fairly recently in TK Maxx.

I can imagine that copies of this style of vase were available in TK Maxx as most designs throughout the mid to late 20th century are highly copied by Chinese companies.
I cannot imagine however that they go to the effort of blowing the glass and leaving the pontil rough, and adding quite a few years of dust and grime to the inside but maybe I am wrong.

Dust and grime do not take long to build up, especially in an environment like a kitchen. The pontil area is rough as polishing requires time and effort. They were/are made in industrial quantities and a high standard of finish was not wanted or required, that would only increase the unit cost.

Your vase was made recently, it is what it is, modern and decorative but not necessarily 'collectable'.

 Hi, I agree with both comments, this is most definitely a vase retailed in TK Maxx a number of years ago, I bought several from there! I buy decorative ware from T K Maxx and Ikea to dress property for my cousin, so I recognise there goods very well LOL! I also agree that dirt and grime are certainly no indicator of age, just the environment it has been kept in. If you love your piece that's all that ever matters, I have a few pieces that have very little commercial value but I wouldn't part with them at any price!
