Info Needed on G. Schechinger Paperweight
« on: July 25, 2013, 02:33:58 AM »
I really like this paperweight, but know nothing of the maker. Was wondering if anyone knew when this was made. Found one example that called this a 'Torus'? paperweight, but little other info. Was wondering if that was the actual name of this piece. Thnx for looking.

Hi there.

It could be by Gerhard Schechinger, from Germany I think.   I know little about him, but he certainly produced a variety of glass objects and styles in the 1980s and later.  They crop up in auctions from time to time.

The forums for specific countries are for general glass not paperweights.

But a request in the Germany forum for folk to take a look at this thread, via a link, might be useful. I will add one and see if anyone responds, and if they do, the details can be merged with this thread.

Not so much interest in paperweights and consequently do not know whether it's worth contacting

  Mr. Friedrich?

Good luck  :)

Experience teaches that anyone who begins to collect in any field can feel a change in his soul. He becomes a joyful man filled with a deeper empathy, and a more open understanding moves his soul.
